Radical Collaboration and Accountability on Climate and Nature

2025 began in a very grim way – especially in the United States.

The massively destructive California wildfires exacerbated by climate change,  and Donald Trump, who on day one of his presidency announced that he would remove the United States from the UNFCCC – Global Paris Agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Making it even harder to make progress.

All this makes it hard to see how the world can easily move forward. 2024 was the hottest year on record and  also a year in which trust in multilateral negotiations was at an all time low.gh information to earn their attention.

Finding a new path is urgently needed.

As always, powerful collaborations, civic dissent and actions, and global campaigns must be our way forward.

And the world’s response is fragmenting

Despite record attendances at these various United Nations summits, there was too much humble bragging in echo chambers, and not enough courageous collaboration to bring forward coherent and ‘joined-up’ change.

We must develop new thinking.

The tools will need to be different from previous mass movements;  alternative social media will need to outpace the channels owned by the Tech Oligarchs, and a commitment to scientific, fact based, truth-telling as the bedrock of family and organisational values  must be protected and honed.

The rate of ice loss is accelerating.

Can we agree to save the world?

The purpose of this retreat is  to allow participants to learn about and act on the existential threats of climate change & biodiversity loss.

The need for radical collaboration & radical accountability

We see a very special mix of attendees at this retreat. Personally invited, we’d like to see very experienced Board Chairs (current or recently retired) from the business, government and  non-government sectors working with outstanding young people. We know that in this way we can immediately start the process of  radical collaboration linked to radical accountability. By this, we mean the stimulating and fascinating conversations about building a new inter-generational contract –  elder wisdom and experience lining up with youth commitment, energy and imagination taking us to innovative project ideas and previously unimaginable pathways for advocacy. Working together takes on new meaning in this context.
